Moscow Island

It was very odd. Only thing in the location was this tree.

London

There was alot of stores you could walk into which was cool. We had some random person following us around and apparently we were confusing her because we were talking bout our project.

Hyannisport

There was alot going on around us. When I walked to the beach I was stucked in a big purple blob and it took awhile to get out of it.

China

The scenery way creepy and there was no buildings around except for this one. China really creeped me out!

Rome

I got lost easily here and it seemed very deserted, didn't see anyone

Group Meeting in Second Life

When our group met in Second Life, we found it initially impressive with the graphics being visually stimulating, and the multitude of places to explore. It was nice to be able to all go in as novices, and learn different things together and on our own, and be able to share our newfound knowledge with each other. We also were actually meeting and seeing cariacatures of our own making, so to speak, which added an element of fun as we got to see each others' imaginations at work.
However, the novelty quickly wore off, as some members of the group starting having problems with computers slowing down or freezing up, so their avatars would suddenly disappear, then re-appear. We also felt it was distracting trying to follow conversations with each other because of other avatars interrupting, and our own teammates' avatars sudden disappearances because of the computer problems. It was also frustrating learning how to move our avatars around and explore together as a group.

In World vs. Real World

Virtual society allows you a variety of freedoms and experiences. There is very little limitation on physical capabilities and attributes and if you find yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable - just teleport to a new location.  The instant self-gratification that permeates in this game can cause the player to lose sight of what is 'real.'  It becomes very easy for someone with a susceptible personality (i.e. lonely, introverted, etc.) to lose themselves in the virtual world.  Real life experiences build character that Second Life experiences would not, the good and the bad - like getting married, having children, dealing with stress, setting goals and achieving them.  Living in Second Life you miss out on the physical sensory experiences such as the smell of the ocean, the touch of your child or the exhilaration you feel after a great workout.

Grand Canyon

I visited the Grand Canyon about 25 years ago and have always wanted to go back again.  My dream is to ride in a boat down the Colorado River and view the canyon walls from a different perspective.  In Second Life you can travel the river via all types of watercraft as well as take a helicopter ride throught the canyon.

London

In London I got lost, and evidentually found my way to this square.  I met someone with a limited knowledge of english.  It made our conversation a bit hard to follow but definitely interesting.

Rome

I traveled to Rome, Italy and found myself in a beautiful garden.  Couldn't resist having my picture taken in front of the carousel.

Hyannisport

The first place I visited was Hyannisport.  It was a relaxing and beautiful place.  It was where I learned to fly!!

Ireland

I have always wanted to visit Ireland, the birthplace of my father.  There was an Irish song playing in the background.  The pub was close to the ocean.  The flowers were in bloom and I was thirsty for a pint.
